Week of September 13th -18th
The Harrold class of 2011 has selected their class officers for the final year of high school. Ms. Caitlyn Henry will serve as the class president. The office of vice president will be held by Ms. Maigan Gober. Serving as secretary will be Ms. Taylor Echols and the class treasurer is Mr. Jacob Castorena. The class reporter is Mr. Ethan Cato. Our senior class is led by Mr. John McGee.
The Lady Hornets will start off our athletic activities this week when they host Chillicothe on Mon. and Tue. The currently undefeated JH will play the Lady Eagles Monday evening beginning at 5pm. The JV and varsity Lady Hornets will play Tue., Also beginning at 5pm. Please come out and support our young ladies as they represent our school in volleyball.
The Harrold FFA will hold their annual stock show planning meeting on Mon. Sept. 13th immediately following the JH volleyball game. Anyone interested in showing an animal this year should plan to attend. Validation dates will be announced and plans to locate show animals for the year will be made. Dues for Jr. FFA are $5 and senior FFA are $15.
All of the Hornets will play the Wichita Christian Stars on Friday night. JH will begin their play at 5pm. Varsity will is set to begin at 7:30. The JH Hornets are led by Coach John McGee. Our varsity team is led by Coach Craig Templeton and John McGee.
Members of the yearbook staff will be traveling to Vernon this Wednesday to sell ads for the yearbook. These ads help pay for the cost of yearbook production. Staff members this year include Caitlyn Henry, Maigan Gober, Ethan Herring, Eric Herring, Ethan Cato, Patrick Bavousett, Dalton Price, Savanah Cato, Shannon Raines, and Kathryn Gober. The staff is also selling volleyball and football t-shirts for $20. If you would like to purchase your Hornet and/or Lady Hornet shirts, please contact a staff member or their sponsor Mrs. Katrina Price.
Eric Herring is in the student spotlight this week. Eric is a senior this year and is the son of Bobbie and Mike Herring of Vernon. Eric has three brothers, Matt, Blake, and his twin brother Ethan. He has attended HHS since his freshman year. Eric participates in Football, basketball, cross country, UIL, OAP, FFA, golf, and tennis. He is also a member of the yearbook staff and the science club. He was named second team all district wide receiver. He was chosen best dressed by his fellow students. Eric also received commended ratings on his TAKS tests. In his spare time he likes to draw and work on cars. After high school, Eric plans to attend college to study auto mechanics. He named his dad as his role model because “he has taught me to be respectful, and to be a hard workS”
